Packaging and Storage of Textiles

From time to time we may be asked to simply help with the secure and safe packaging of an object/s.  This was indeed the case with a client who owned some beautiful red silk velvet 17th Century hangings with embroidered motifs.

There were four hangings in total and these were humidified in order to ease any creasing present and then carefully folded, with all creases padded out, using high quality tissue paper.

The wrapped hangings were carefully placed within an acid-free cardboard storage box which had also been lined with the high quality tissue paper.

Finally, the storage box was labelled to represent its contents and returned to its owner.
