A wide range of textiles are treated including embroideries, tapestries, upholstery and furnishing fabrics, wall coverings, ecclesiastical vestments and altar frontals, flags, banners, samplers, costume, lace and accessories.
Our clients include institutions such as the National Trust, English Heritage, The Churches Conservation Trust, small and large museums, churches, historic houses and many private clients.
At the start of a project the textile objects are assessed, either at the studio or on site, if the object cannot be moved readily. A written proposal is drawn up, sometimes with different options of treatment, with an estimate of cost. When all aspects of the proposed treatment are clear and agreed upon, treatment can proceed.
We provide advice and assistance with transport of the objects, and the necessary packing.
The studio provides a safe environment for your objects whilst in our care, and we carry insurance according to recommended professional practice.
All conservation work is documented, and treatment reports with photographs are provided.
